Abstract

This study addresses the importance of historical-comparative analyses of particular sets of ideas and theories used in images in different geographical, cultural and social conditions. The significance of a comparative history of images is developing a strategy to consider central social, cultural, and political principles through which the modern school and its objects formed. The authors illustrate how the sensible/intelligible experience of images can catalyze a "thought space" to illuminate the interplay of practices that have constituted human subjectivity, actions and relations.
