In Event: 52.023 - Effective Instructional Leadership: Aligning the Roles of Teachers and Principals
The purpose of this study is to investigate the alignment between individual teacher-level, aggregate teacher-level, and principal-level leadership for learning factors using the large nationally generalizable dataset, the Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Prior educational leadership research into leadership for learning has identified a variety of teacher and principal leadership factors. However, this research has generally not investigated how individual teacher factors may differ from aggregate (or collective) teacher factors or how teacher and principal factors relate to one another. This study analyzes data from the 2011-12 SASS using Multilevel Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MCFA) to understand the degrees of alignment between these three different levels of leadership for learning.
