This study examines the Community of Inquiry (CoI) survey for its psychometric properties from a longitudinal perspective while also examining the Social Presence construct, part of the CoI framework, as potentially more of an individual reflection of a student that holds steady over time. Student CoI survey responses (n=1302) were used to examine the internal consistency reliability for all CoI subscores (.90 or above). CoI scores for individual students were examined at the end of their first course, second course, and a course one year later (n=256). Matched paired t-test results indicates no significant change in social presence over two consecutive courses and remains statistically significant after a year while teaching and cognitive presences showed significant score difference.
