Thu, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Sheraton, Floor: Fourth Level, Chicago VI&VII

Abstract

Through a review and analysis of the educational and recruitment programs of the United States military, higher education researchers will have this additional tool highlighting: the historic changes in military benefits, the impact changes in educational military benefits have on recruitment and enlistment/reenlistment, the current and historic recruitment policies of the military, the impact military recruitment policies have on shaping the demographics of the United States military, and finally the implications that these systems have on higher education and society. Additionally this analysis proposes several recommendations for future studies in an effort to offer a pathway for improved clarity and understanding to an often-overlooked area of study.
