Lived Experiences of African American Teachers Before, During, and After Desegregation in a Rural Southern School District

Abstract

Limited research has been conducted pertaining African American teachers’ perspectives of race and diversity in rural educational settings or in schools dominated by students of color in rural school communities. This biographical narrative inquiry technique will provide and share evidence of the lived experiences of African American educators whose voices tell their stories and their perceptions of resilience and self-determination in multicultural learning environments before, during and after desegregation.
