Often in predominantly white institutions, Latino/a graduate students are left with few to no Latino/a faculty members to mentor them through graduate school or the tumultuous professoriate. This testimono draws from my own experience as a Latino graduate student to develop a pedagogy born of necessity and survival: a pedagogy of haunting. Drawing from the work of Gloria AnzaldĂșa and Avery Gordon, this paper demonstrates the way ghosts of home and of past mentors can not only haunt the present and guide us into the future, but also sooth the hunger pains of being between spaces that are so White, both physically and psychically, and so far removed from home.
