In order to serve as strong advocates for their child, family members need to understand the ways in which they can be actively involved in transition planning. This qualitative study interviewed 15 family members and addressed the extent to which families were able to discuss the future opportunities they perceived for their child, their expectations for their child's future employment and life success, family involvement in career exploration and preparing for their post-school transition, knowledge about the career development process, challenges they experienced in relation to career exploration and preparing for their post-school transition, and sources of support they have received. The purpose of this study was to learn about transition strategies and challenges from the perspective of adult family.
