This paper outlines work done in an urban school district to better understand the preparedness of its student population to graduate from high school college and career ready. The significance of early intervention is prevalent in the literature, and it is a district priority to provide our schools with tools to identify at risk students as early as possible so there is time to move students back on track. Using existing administrative data, we built models predicting the likelihood of graduating college and career ready for every student in every grade. Discussion will focus not only on the statistical analyses, but also on the uses of the model to inform strategic planning efforts and use of the model in schools.
