One problem that educational leadership preparation as a field needs to address is the reality that there still are many programs that are not innovative and research-based. One way to help programs in need of improvement is to make available to those programs examples of innovations that (a) are proven to be working well and (b) can be adapted without causing counterproductive academic, economic, or political disruption to those programs. The purpose of this study was to identify and describe successful, “portable” innovations in educational leadership preparation programs so that information on those innovations can be disseminated to the field.
