Like parallel rivers, teachers and researchers have had their own, culture, heritage and language. Inspired by the 2012 AERA conference theme, to know is not enough, three national organisations in Ireland have been working together to promote teachers’ access to and engagement with research. The Research Alive partners have led three actions to date—a survey of teachers, seminar for teachers and researchers, and access to online education journals for registered teachers. Involvement in the initiative has influenced partners’ work in the areas of teacher agency, research design, and knowledge representation and dissemination. Findings from the initiative will shape the development of a national online knowledge hub for teachers and a National Framework for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
