Teaching for Learning in Higher Education: The Influence of Teaching Methods on Student Learning Outcomes

Sun, April 19, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Swissotel, Floor: Event Centre First Level, Zurich G

Abstract

There is an ever-growing body of research on teaching approaches in higher education that has demonstrated improvement in learning outcomes across a range of settings. Unfortunately, this information tends to be inaccessible to most faculty as well as other external and internal stakeholders. We need a synthesis of this evidence of the effectiveness of various frequently used instructional approaches in higher education and of what in particular can and does improve student learning outcomes. This study replies upon meta-synthesis of research on how teaching methods influence learning outcomes.
