This workshop aims to encourage cross-‘generational’ dialogue between graduate students, early-career researchers, and senior researchers. It will begin with a paired mentoring session in which LSP graduate or early-career scholars will meet and discuss a piece of their work with more senior LSP scholar-mentors. The second half of the workshop will allow participants to engage in sustained discussion at a roundtable of their choice, around one of three topics: (1) mapping the roots and routes of our work in language and social processes; (2) defining “language” and “social processes” (and thereby our field); (3) connecting research questions and methods with theory. Each table will be led by a mid-career or senior scholar who has made significant contributions to LSP.
