Abstract

Effective reading and writing development requires educators to build on the cultural, linguistic, and heritage background resources and experiences of first and second language learners. Validation of students’ constructs is fundamental to literacy development. The purpose of this session is to present an educational model that validates and integrates in and out- of- class discourse communities.
