This study describes a case study of one elementary principal throughout her first year of leadership and the processes employed to bring about change. It begins with a review of distributed leadership research and the research on leadership for learning, which serves as the theoretical framework for the study. It then presents findings from the case study; in the discussion and implications sections, comparisons are made to prior studies and recommendations for novice principal sharing leadership to bring about change. School community stakeholders were involved in change efforts; parents, teachers and students were part of the existing culture and served in a variety of roles in the change process.
