Is male gender socialization contributing to the decline of spiritual and religious belief? Given the lack of empirical research on the intersection of masculinity and spiritual/religious identity in college men, this paper reviews scholarly literature related to spiritual identity and religious affiliation from a gendered lens as well as empirical studies on spiritual identity and religious affiliation that have sampled exclusively college men. This review concludes with a call for further research from a gendered perspective on the spiritual identity and religious affiliation of college men.
