X (Twitter)
Twitter is one space where debate over Common Core is unfolding. Here participants can exchange ideas, coordinate action, and potentially enact change. This qualitative study uses discourse and semiotic analyses to examinehow individuals and groups on Twitter are using language to frame the CCSS and, potentially, influence the policy’s trajectory going forward. The powerful narratives emerging from Twitter around the CCSS can be consequential because they influence how people understand the CCSS, assign blame and responsibility, and determine what courses of action are possible and acceptable.
