This study is represents one part of a pilot of the new conception of a Transformation Initiative Option (TI) for NCATE/CAEP which adds a layer of research and inquiry to the accreditation process. Specifically, using assessments and interviews with educational administration candidates, the research team investigated the development of research, knowledge, skill, and critical reflection as candidates grow into their roles as visionary leaders who understand the problems of practice influencing student outcomes. Five key findings emerged related to clinical practice, interaction with mentors, assessment quality and faculty feedback, and the need to pursue leadership opportunities outside of course requirements.
