Fri, April 17, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

This study explores the extent to which a high school's organizational contexts and individual students’ characteristics are related to adolescents' school bond in multiethnic schools. In addition, this study examines the relationship between the size of an ethnic group and the level of school bond of adolescents in the group. Data for this research are drawn from the Education Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS: 2002) and the Common Core of Data (CCD) 2001-02. Using a sample of 16,197 students in 752 schools, this study employs hierarchical linear modeling to explore the relations of a school’s ethnic composition and organizational climate to its students' school bond, taking into account students’ characteristics including ethnicity.
