Full-Service Community Schools: Findings and Lessons Learned From a Longitudinal Evaluation

Abstract

Findings from a five-year evaluation of a Full Service Community School (FSCS) initiative are presented. The evaluation explored the extent to which the FSCS model had a measurable influence on several community-developed measures. The evaluation plan was created by an advisory board comprised of local stakeholders and implemented by faculty from a partner university. In addition to study findings, we will discuss the background of FSCS model, the evaluation plan and how it was developed, and challenges in maintaining evaluation efforts in the face of ever-changing leadership. Results, while generally positive, were limited by ongoing logistical issue. Still, through interviews, the community had much to say about this work, which can be instructive for other communities implementing a FSCS model.
