Candidates enrolled in a university principal preparation program were evaluated during the first year of their program to assess many of the skills related to being and effective principal, i.e. observation and evaluation, working with parents and students, using data, supporting students with special needs and English language learners, etc. Some of the items on the assessment provide data related to the candidate's ability to work from a social justice perspective, and the scores helped to inform. faculty, staff and candidates of what additional experiences needed to be addressed throughout the rest of their preparation program.
