Tracing Messages About Common Core Instruction: A Qualitative and Social Network Analysis of State-Level Resources

Abstract

This paper examines the Common Core professional development resources provided for English/Language Arts teachers by all states currently implementing the Common Core. We conduct both a qualitative document analysis and a social network analysis of the teacher resources on state department of education web pages with two goals: (1) to describe the nature of the resources being offered to teachers (2) to analyze the density of the linkages between states and various intermediary organizations sponsoring these resources.
