This study investigates how Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP) can be expanded to socioeconomic status (SES) and academic achievement differences within the same race, culture, and nationality, such as Korea. Thus, this study is to observe how Korean teachers acknowledge the differences among students, and how they teach students by recognizing those differences. Previous studies on CRP focuses on students from different cultures and races. However, in the Korean context, the main focus is diverse SES and academic achievement among students. I argue that the “intra-cultural” differences should be considered as cultural differences within a “homogeneous” society, namely Korea in this case, therefore, CRP is required to be expanded to fit this culture as well as racially and culturally diverse countries.
