Thu, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Hyatt, Floor: West Tower - Green Level, Crystal B

Abstract

The objectives of this study were twofold: elaborate on the concurrent validity of the Holistic Wellness Assessment (HWA); second to investigate the HWA’s sensitivity to detect changes as a function of an undergraduate college curriculum experience in holistic health. Fiftyeight students completed the pre-test version of the HWA and 5F-Wel to examine concurrent validity and 42 of the 58 students completed both pre- and post-tests. Seven of the HWA factors showed meaningful concurrent validity with the 5F-Wel. HWA factors revealed statistically significance changes for Sustainability and Physical Health related to sensitivity of the curriculum while the 5F-Wel revealed only posttest changes in Coping Self. The HWA be useful in health sciences courses for measuring course related changes within the individual.
