Information Equity in Education: Understanding the Socioeconomic Differences in Resource Usage for College Information

Fri, April 17, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

This study uses Educational Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS:2002) data to show how different socioeconomic and racial/ethnic groups use resources to search information about college. Consistent with previous studies, we found that resource usage for college information is stratified by income across racial/ethnic groups. These findings provide a better understanding of high school students’ college information gathering behaviors.
