"I'm Talking, but They're Not Listening": A Black Woman's Experience Teaching White Preservice Teachers

Abstract

This paper explores my experiences as a Black teaching all white students in a pre-service teacher education program at a major research university in the southeastern United States. Before teaching in this program, all of my teaching experience had been garnered in schools where the student population was predominantly Black. I used autoethnography to collect data and critical race theory to analyze how power and privilege were displayed.
