Sat, April 18, 8:15 to 9:45am, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside West

Abstract

The purpose of this session is to facilitate a dialogue about the policy paradigm of schooling for economic purposes and how that paradigm plays out in policy practice. Through analysis of Georgia education policy under Governor Nathan Deal, participants in this roundtable session will: (1) Discuss how the educational policy narrative in Georgia has created a policy paradigm of schooling for economic purposes; (2) Discuss how that policy paradigm plays out in Georgia’s educational policy; (3) Discuss how the policy paradigm of schooling for economic purposes fosters a citizen-as-worker model for schools.
