Mixed format test refers to a test with mixture of different item formats. It is widely used in large-scale and classroom assessments since it allows us to measure a broader set of skills. However, it is rarely discussed how to detect Differential item functioning (DIF) under the framework of Mixed format test. This study proposes to use multiple-indicator, multiple-causes (MIMIC) model to detect DIF for mixed format test with two different DIF free set selection methods. Through our simulation study, it is found that the MIMIC model is generally successful in detecting DIF, while keeping the Type-I error rate well controlled in most practical conditions.
