Abstract

One possible explanation for Latinas’ low rates of participation in higher education is the effect of culturally gendered norms and familial expectation on the formation of a Latina’s possible self. The current quantitative study examined perceived mother and father encouragement on Latina first generation college students’ academic expectations.
