Sun, April 19, 8:15 to 9:45am, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Purple Level, Riverside East

Abstract

In 2012, Lakeshore School Division in Manitoba, Canada, embarked on a systemic change initiative called Re-imagine Lakeshore. The intention was to work towards a just education for all students in the division. Support for this work was provided by the provincial Department of Education and through a community-university partnership project. A culture of trust and risk-taking was cultivated that encouraged experimentation and sharing. Based on a design process, input was gathered from all stakeholders: students, teachers, administrators, trustees, and community. Data of many types and from many sources were gathered to help determine the success of the change process. Preliminary analysis indicates varying degrees of success in moving toward greater quality, equity, and engagement for students in the division.
