How can teacher educators use testimonio of an undocumented immigrant college student to engage bilingual teacher candidates? Informed by critical race theory and borderlands epistemologies, in this paper the authors describe a process of inviting an engineering student to share his story, co-collaboration to develop a richer testimonio, and the ways that such stories can inform preparation of novice educators. We present selections from the testimonio and consider how teacher educators can invite teacher candidates to grapple with stories that explore how undocumented immigrants address the challenges of educational marginalization.
