New York City’s Department of Education has undergone sweeping restructuring and reform since 2002. One such initiative has been the implementation of a new structure for offering differentiated support for schools, through networks into which schools self-affiliate. This paper presents findings from one component of a larger mixed methods investigation of school support networks in New York City, focusing on interviews with ten principals about their experiences and perceptions of network support. Principals identified priorities for improvement and support within their schools, expressed diverse views about the relevance and responsiveness of network support, and cited varying degrees of collaboration with networks and other schools. Findings may indicate potential areas for improvement in school support implementation and policy. (3a)
