Personalized Learning has been recently identified as the next big challenge in education (IBM, 2013). As a practice, personalized learning has the opportunity to redefine education for all learners, especially for those with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities. This study is the first known study that investigates common design principles, classroom practices, and student outcomes associated with a large-scale implementation of personalized learning. Results showed that both student self-regulation and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) were actively integrated through classroom level design principles and practices. This research provides a foundation for establishing models for personalized learning implementation as well as a research agenda that investigates these models.
