Career Pathway Development: An Analysis of Implementation

Fri, April 17, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Marriott, Floor: Sixth Level, Illinois

Abstract

Funded by the Department of Labor, the “ABC” consortium brings together ten California community colleges, two universities, local workforce development experts, and employers to bolster regional efforts to align college-based training across campuses and with industry needs. “ABC” focuses on three industry sectors in a region of California: transportation and logistics, bioscience, and advanced manufacturing. The evaluators describe the implementation of ABC throughout the region, presenting findings from a social network analysis that depicts how the grant has influenced college reorganization, partnerships with community, instruction, and alignment of programs across campuses. A specific topic of interest is career pathway development within the colleges; the successes and challenges they have experienced; and how the grant-funded efforts have improved services to students.
