Despite growing interest in computer games as instruction media to maximize students’ learning in school, there is a paucity of reliable and valid measurement tools which can evaluate the effect of computer games. In response, this study validated a measurement instrument, Computer Game Engagement Instrument (CGEI), which was designed to evaluate the levels of students’ engagement in instructional games. For the validation of CGEI, this study employed Rasch measurement model to the data from 250 postsecondary school students and analyzed items and test characteristics as well as test-takers’ ability levels. This study discussed CGEI’s psychometric properties and implications for practice and resulted in empirical evidence for the CGEI with an acceptable validity.
