Abstract

The persistent criticisms that have accompanied the implementation of the current standards-based reform effort, nominally referred to as Common Core, motivated the present assessment professionals to propose a set of “alignment” standards that are designed to enhance the responsiveness of instruction and assessments as teachers and other educators endeavor to implement what has become for many states and schools a default, federally-sanctioned curriculum -- the Common Core standards.
