This paper draws upon a database of writings produced by multilingual education undergraduate students over four years, many of them prospective teachers, and with a focus on 25 multilingual students from one cohort year who identified teaching as a probable or possible career. The purposes are to understand language themes particular to multilingual students in a self-reflexive process of inquiry into language use, as a potential means of fostering metalinguistic awareness, an essential component in teaching a diverse student population.
