This study uses social network analysis (SNA) to revisit a critical question in the field of critical sociology of curriculum– who designs what kinds of curriculum, for whom, for what purpose(s), in which way, and under what circumstances. Drawing on concrete empirical and policy evidence, this project focuses on critically examining one of the emerging international curricular programs in China, which are exclusively designed to prepare Chinese high school students for the US college application processes. Proposed as a methodological approach, SNA helps identify social actors who participate in and/or are involved in the development of the new international curriculum. This study uses SNA to reveal power relations among social actors involved in commodifying and branding the international curriculum.
