In this conference paper, we examine the evolution of role conceptualization among eight emerging school leaders in their first 18 months of a highly regarded and recognized principal preparation program. Specifically we use a longitudinal case study approach to track the trajectory of their role conception of the prinicipalship and the ways in which leader identity cultivating activities appear to be shaping that role conceptualization.
