Understanding Diversity Through the Voices of Hmong American Students at a Predominantly White Institution

Abstract

This case study examines how Hmong American students’ experience diversity at a PWI in the midwest. Specifically, this paper draws on the concept of “critical diversity” to highlight the how institutions can actively shape the status and positioning of Hmong Americans. The paper contributes the literature that disaggregates experiences on Asian Americans and to offers insights on how institutions can achieve an inclusive vision and practice of diversity.
