Reflections on the Nature of Assessment and Implications for Its Practice

Abstract

My research has been applying developments in technology, statistics, and psychology to practical problems in educational assessment. Figuring out how to do this has led me deeper into the conceptual foundations of assessment. Some of the insights are sparked by the challenges of assessing more diverse populations of students, and lead to more valid assessment and better support for learning more generally. In this presentation I will reflect on some of the key ideas and pivotal projects in this work.
