Designing Indigenous Education in Now-Named Urban Places: Disrupting Temporal and Spatial Constructions in Settler-Colonial Societies

Abstract

This concluding paper will collectively theorize the implications of this work in relation to the Indigenous Diaspora with a specific emphasis on the role of science education given the pressing socio-scientific challenges and shifts underway (e.g. climate change and access to and relations with water, food security and health). Of critical importance is the ways in which settler-colonials and the embedded temporal and spatial frames and restricts possible futures. As the makings, or unmakings, of human communities continues to unfold, the need for critical engagement with the politics and genealogies of land, education and knowing are imperative for real change making to occur.
