Growth Patterns in Student Achievement: An Exploratory Study

Abstract

This study used two consecutive years of matched data from a state assessment to explore the growth pattern across grades using an effect size metric. A declining pattern of growth was found from early grade of elementary school to the last grade of middle school. Growth pattern was also compared in different groups to inform further understanding.
