The presentation seeks to trouble traditional research paradigms through an analysis of engaged community research. As part and parcel of the attempt to support the larger political project of community self-determination, engaged community research complicates and layers the relationships between university researchers and community members. As an explicit attempt to interrupt the traditional colonial relationship between university and community, the presentation uses specific examples of partnerships centered in university responsibility to community-driven efforts.
