Tuscon Schools' Approach to Creating Equitable Curricular Opportunities for All Students

Sat, April 18, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Marriott, Floor: Fourth Level, Clark

Abstract

Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) has put into place several successful initiatives to increase African American and Hispanic student enrollment in various advanced academic programs including University High School – a nationally ranked exam high school; Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses; and the district’s large gifted education program. In order to address the challenge of retention and success in these programs, TUSD is currently working on implementing several initiatives to provide support services to these students in order to help them complete the courses successfully and if appropriate, to take the end-of-course exam.
