Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Education researchers, policymakers, journalists, and other stakeholders agree that that high quality education research can add to practice, policy, and public understanding. However, the contributions of scholars are not understood nor appreciated by much of the public and even outright dismissed by some elected officials. This session will bring together three sets of stakeholders— those who produce education research, those who use it, and those who know how to communicate about it—to (1) discuss mutual challenges they and their colleagues face in raising the visibility of education research and (2) explore strategies that maximize the usefulness, application, and communication of education research.
