Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this symposium is to share research that investigates how women educators continue to interrupt, disrupt, and rewrite educational policy and practice across P-20 contexts. Topics include: The current state of research on women leaders; the need for addressing gender and sexuality in teacher preparation programs; the importance of providing a safe space in schools for young women to promote conscientization and praxis (Arendt, 1958; Freire, 1970) that leads to developing voice, activism, and community engagement, and; the essential role mentoring plays in strengthening the social justice goals for girls and women across P-20 contexts.
