Abstract

Arts education fosters cultural awareness and promotes cultural practices. This symposium presents five international researchers from Australia, Canada and the USA whose work focuses on partnerships and innovative projects that impact young people and educators to be culturally and socially aware. The underpinning question of how do innovative programs and projects examine the role of the arts in education and across educational disciplines/domain is explored. Found poetry and images, visual narratives, and interviews serve as research methods and representational shapes that enable the process of inquiry. This data serves as visible products of reflection, catalysts for awareness, and insight for knowledge construction about how we can work in partnership within arts education to foster cultural awareness and cultural practices.
