Positive and sustainable school-family relationships can strongly influence student well-being and performance. The key role in establishing and maintaining such relationships is played by teachers, whereby their interpersonal skills have been identified as a critical factor. This session addresses two resulting challenges for teacher education: firstly, to train becoming teachers for professional communication and, secondly, to develop instruments which allow assessing the respective competencies with high psychometric quality. Each goal will be addressed in two presentations.
