Session Type: Symposium
The symposium presents documentary accounts of four models that have developed across time in one teachers college in search of transforming initial teacher preparation on the Clinical-Participatory continuum. The first three models have operated in the College for some years and the fourth started this summer. Each model pushes teacher education forward on two dimensions: 'Clinical' and 'Participatory'. Focusing on one of the models, each paper discusses: (1) unique features; (2) theoretical underpinning; (3) mode of inquiry; (4) analysis and results; (5) emergent insights and contribution to how clinical-participatory preparation could move our understanding further to guide others. The papers are consolidated by a discussant who examines critically the accumulative experience and the implications for programs elsewhere.
