46.025 - Creative and Critical Justice: New Approaches to Methodological Border-Crossing

Abstract

This international panel spans four countries, bringing together scholars from the UK, Canada, USA, and Australia whose work critically theorizes and engages methodological innovation through creative approaches and a variety of critical perspectives to advance equity, activist or social justice agendas. From urban drama with homeless youth, to undocumented migrants, from Occupy Wall Street activism to prison abolitionism, these panelists explore possibilities and compatibilities of international, interdisciplinary, and methodological diversity in educational research and practice. The strength of this panel is its gendered, regional, and cultural differences, highlighting the breadth of methodological/representational practices in creative education research. With shared aims of social justice education, the Symposium explores how creativity and activism within diverse contexts inform pedagogical and scholarly landscapes.
